Originally the Victorian home of Lord and Lady Belgrave, it later became a residential Girls School and Nurse Edith Cavell (the world war one heroine) spent some of her school days here. Prior to George and Daphne Hamnett becoming proprietors in 1996, Cavell House was a children's home administered by the Assemblies of God Pentecostal Church.
